Lorena del Mar 4et

‘This young woman’s life story reads like a travelogue’, according to Luminous Dash, who previously described her music as ‘floating between jazz and pop … with a serious portion of Björk on top’. With her latest project, Spanish-Cuban singer Lorena Del Mar weaves an intricate sound tapestry, in which jazz, flamenco and indie influences merge with daring rhythmic touches. American Allaboutjazz praised her for her ‘crystal-clear voice, underpinned by classically trained precision, but with a flowing and rhythmically refined phrasing’ .

In her brand new quartet she is accompanied by a Belgian all-star band, consisting of rising star pianist Alex Koo (who previously worked with Mark Turner, Craig Taborn and Kurt Elling), double bassist Yannick Peeters (GingerBlackGinger, Jakob Bro, Jim Black) and drummer Dré Pallemaerts (Melanie De Biasio, Novastar, Toots Thielemans, Fred Hersch).
